Hj. Mohd. Zain bin Abu was born Talip on 16 September, 1923 in Telok Panglima Garang, Selangor. He grew up in Telok and did his secondary schooling at the Victoria Institution. He furthered his studies in journalism in London in 1949. He left this worldly life for eternal peace on 20 October, 2009, at the ripe age of 86. His beloved wife Siti Hajar Othman was by his side.
